Visiting Vern d'Anjou
Every other year (usually at Easter) we visit our French twin town in Vern d'Anjou.
Vern is situated about 30kms form Angers in the Loire Valley in the central West area of France. It's a beautiful part of France and is, of course, a famous wine growing area.
We take a coach over to France leaving on Good Friday. The cost of the coach is kept as low as possible in order to be accessible to as many people as possible. It's a fun packed weekend with days out laid on for us and lots of evening entertainment.
In 2012 for example this was our itinerary:
Friday - arrived in Vern about 4pm - reception in the town hall. Dinner with our host families in the evening.
Saturday - breakfast with our hosts then a full day out in Nantes where we had a river trip, a tour around the 'machines' museum and an evening meal in a converted old biscuit factory
Sunday - official reception followed by a picnic, walk, treasure hunt and games around Vern. Country dancing evening in the school hall in the evening.
Monday - a visit to the national stud in Lion d'Angers followed by an afternoon at the horse race meeting. Evening meal at Le Pigeon Blanc restaurant
Tuesday - depart.
It's a great experience that everyone enjoys. Read the write up from the visit below or go to the Gallery tab
